Healing Isn’t About Getting It Right

Somewhere along the way, many of us pick up the idea that healing is something we should do properly.

We think there’s a right pace, a right mindset, or a moment when we’ll finally feel finished. We look back at old patterns and wonder why they still surface, even after all the work we’ve done. It can feel frustrating and, at times, disheartening.

But healing isn’t about perfection or progress that moves in a straight line.

Healing is about meeting yourself honestly, again and again, in whatever place you find yourself. Some days feel lighter and clearer. Other days bring old emotions back to the surface, not because you’re going backwards, but because you’re ready to understand them more deeply.

I often remind people that awareness itself is part of healing. Noticing your reactions, your needs, and your boundaries is growth, even when it doesn’t feel comfortable. The fact that you can recognise these patterns now means something within you has already shifted.

It’s also important to release the pressure to be constantly positive or spiritually evolved. You’re allowed to feel tired, uncertain, or unsure. Those moments don’t cancel out the work you’ve done. They’re part of being human.

Healing asks for patience and kindness more than effort. It unfolds in layers, each one offering an opportunity to soften rather than push. When you stop trying to get it right, you often find yourself exactly where you need to be.

If you’re feeling discouraged with your journey, please know this. You’re not behind. You’re not failing. You’re learning how to meet yourself with compassion, and that is healing in its truest form.
